7 Mile Road
7 Mile Road is a church that is being planted in the city of Philadelphia. We long to plant a Jesus-centered, Gospel-driven, missional church that redeems the lost and edifies the redeemed. To hear more about our story and vision, check out our blog at www.phillychurchplant.wordpress.com
One of the first questions people ask me when talking about planting 7 Mile Road is, “Do you guys have a church yet?”
Depending on the day, I have one of two answers. If I’m hurried, I’ll say, “No we don’t have a building yet.” But more often, I get so say, “Yes. We are the church!”
I think it’s a really good thing that 7 Mile Road doesn’t have a public space for now (I’ll probably regret writing that someday). Not having a building for a while might help us remember that the church is a people and not a place. As we get started, we’re gathering in homes like they did in the book of Acts. If we outgrow a living room (wouldn’t that be awesome) or when we sense that it’s time to launch public worship, we’ll be looking for a space.
But don’t get me wrong. If you have a building you want to give us, we won’t say no.
