Benita Joy is a Malayalee Christian and serves as the Chief Editor for South Asian Connection. She is a woman of faith, gifted in the area of leadership and administration, and has a heart for world missions. Her desire is to live a life that is pure and to serve God's purposes in her generation. Benita is pursuing a double major in English and Psychology at the University of British Columbia. She loves big cities, chai, the internet, roller coasters, international cuisines, music, and hanging out with friends. She is the youngest member of Team SAC, plays guitar with a baby pink pick (Yikes!), and she's not much taller than your average dwarf (don't tell her that).
I don't usually write about movies, let alone Hindi movies...but hey, we can all try something new once in a while eh?
I downloaded this movie (without subtitles) some time ago and have now
watched it about three times. It does take a stretch of the imagination
but which Hindi movie doesn't? The story is one of a blind girl, Zooni
(Kajol) falling in love with undercover Kashmiri freedom fighter,
Rehaan (Aamir Khan).
First of all, Kajol and Aamir Khan are my two favourite actors in Hindi cinema. I loved Aamir Khan in Rang de Basanti and he was also good in Dil Chaata Hai and, of course, Lagaan. And Kajol--after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, you can't deny her talent. Second, I cannot get over the little kid, whom I couldn't get any pictures or the name of. He's so cute and he had the most endearing lines, you can't help but love him! The story was sweet, sad, and intense. The second half is full of emotionally charged scenes. And the music!!...Chanda chamke cham cham chi...hehe! Such a fun song! The rest of the music was good too.
I have yet to get the subtitled version so I can understand all the finer details, but until then I'll watch the one I have. I learn something new each time I watch it so it's all good. Aamir Khan and Kajol I absolutely love! Even the Grandpa, Zooni's father, was good. And that kid...*sigh*...I cannot get over that kid!
Any other good movies out there?
That's all for now :)
